Our Team @ Red Piece Equestrian is made up of a number of Coaches, Volunteers, Head Girls, Team Leaders, our Junior Committee, our clients & YOU!
Meet our Coaches below:
Antonia McKinnon-Wood
Antonia is our Proprietor & Head Coach here at Red Piece Equestrian.
With a history in Eventing & Riding Club Activities, Antonia has been teaching for over 30 years, giving her a wealth of knowledge within the equine world & a true passion for helping riders to improve & excel in their riding journey.
She has two lovely Gelding's who she enjoys training with and competing - Mouse, a lovely Chestnut Irish Draft & Zebedee, a rather dashing Appaloosa Gelding.
Sophie McKinnon-Wood
Sophie is Antonia's daughter & has competed at National level in Dressage, Show-Jumping and eventing. More recently, Sophie has turned her interest to Athlete Psychology and aims to help riders achieve their goals through both physical and mental coaching. Sophie currently has two horses; Cracker, who is sadly retired from Show-Jumping due to an injury & Dinks, who she hopes to slowly bring up through the competition circuit.
Sophie is also a freelance coach & rider, who coaches all over the county in all disciplines.
Laura Mackay
Laura is another of our long-standing coaches who has ridden since a very young age. She enjoys all disciplines and has worked with a number of horses here at Red Piece.
Laura is currently training to become a Veterinary Nurse and we are therefore very lucky to still have her working with us during our Saturday Group Lessons.
Laura has a real affinity for teaching our younger riders & is a firm favourite among them!
Amber Furie-Severn
Amber has been a client of ours & a treasured coach for a number of years now, displaying a real passion and energy for coaching all levels & abilities.
Amber has enjoyed many disciplines on her loan horses through the years and has represented us at numerous events, including the National Riding Club Championships with our very loved pony Bear. Since then, Amber has worked hard on her love for Dressage and is now looking to further her experience in the equine world during her gap year,
Emma Alcorn
Emma joined us as an apprentice 3 years ago & since then has become one of our most treasured team members, coaching our younger riders in both ridden & unmounted sessions, Emma has a real passion for helping children thrive on their ponies.
Emma has also had a successful competition career as a Junior British Show-Jumping rider & now has a lovely young mare who she hopes will follow in similar footsteps!
Odie!!!!
Now he may not be an instructor here @ Red Piece, but you can't visit the yard without meeting our wonderful mascot - Odie!
He is full of life & will do ANYTHING to play ball with you!
